No Vote On Happiness

So, I haven't been posting much... because it is almost the end of the year... and I have Finals (exams). I have been studying (stuDYING).... But anyway! Today, I want to write about LGBTQ. Because well, I want to, and I can.

Blah, blah, blah. I think it's wrong that people should be bullied or judged because of their sexual orientation. I mean, seriously? Why go against gay marriage when they don't go against straight marriage? Why don't we just get rid of marriage altogether, eh? I mean, with the divorce rates there's hardly a point to getting marriage, right? If you don't want to see it, don't look.

But no, people still want to get married. I know, gay marriage is more complicated than that.
Blah, everything is complicated in life. Why make it worse?
Humans spend so much time trying to rationalize the world. Lifetimes, generations of time. Why? I understand curiosity. But sometimes, it's better to just accept things as they are and move on. Some things just can't be explained or shouldn't be, you know? In this case, people are trying to do what cannot be done. Trying to rationalize love, and whether it can or cannot happen between people of the same sex. How long have people been trying to rationalize love and it's secrets? Fighting to understand what love is....

Why does it even matter? There are problems more important and urgent than traditional and nontraditional marriage. People are dying, starving, and being murdered, stripped of their rights, abused all throughout the world... and we make a real effort against gay marriage? If you are one of these people, if you have a passionate hate for the gay...well, why don't you fight something worth fighting? Fight poverty. Fight discrimination. Fight the injustices that so many of us go against every single day. Gay marriage is inevitable. Why? Because gay people are inevitable. Why? Because they are, in fact, people.. just like everybody else. And if you're the more religious "hater," well, since when was it YOUR job to be the gay community's "savior?" Oh, wait, it isn't.

And anyway, how would you like to die knowing you made other peoples lives miserable? I'm sorry, but that is just a very sad, heartless lifestyle. A lot of homosexuals commit suicide because of all this hate. Do you want that on your hands? Well?

If you "hate" gay... well, keep it in your head, okay? No more hate needs to be spewed out into our society. There's enough of that everywhere.

If you're like me, and you accept and support gays. If you're open to the concept of a world where it's just fine to be straight or gay...well, I love you. There ought to be more accepting people. More people who are willing to fight for their rights, and even the rights of others.

Living life isn't about everybody having their own little path to success. It isn't about you getting everything that you want. It isn't about money or clothes. It's not about drugs or alcohol to drown out your problems. It is about connecting to other people, because only with other people can you achieve both success and happiness. It is about UNITY.
